JOHN FREEMAN – EDITOR OF GRANTA
Granta is delighted to announce the confirmation of John Freeman as Editor.
Freeman is the former president of the National Book Critics Circle and author of The Tyranny of E-mail, due to be published this month.
Freeman is responsible for Granta 108 – Chicago, the most recent issue of the magazine, which was reprinted a week after publication, making it the fastest-selling issue in the magazine’s 30 year history.
He is based in London and New York.
John Freeman says –
“Working at a magazine with Granta’s ground-breaking heritage is a privilege and a real joy. I look forward to building on Granta’s tradition of introducing new writers, of the Best Young American and Best Young British editions, and of creating new themes for our writers so they can explore the stories they feel must be told.”
Sigrid Rausing says –
“John is that rare thing, an editor and critic who is also an entrepreneur, with an exceptional degree of literary knowledge and memory. We are delighted that he has accepted the position of Editor of Granta.”
